Zofia Mocherek

Zofia Mocherek, nee Zigmond, passed peacefully Monday at age 80 after a lengthy illness.  Sophie, as she was known to all, spent her retirement years enjoying her favorite past times, her children, grandchildren, and the slots.  She brought a smile to the faces of everyone she met.  Born in Poland, Sophie moved to Chicago with her husband, the late Jozef Mocherek and sons Andrew (Barbara) and William.  She watched her family grow to include her much loved and adored grandsons Tony (Lauren) Tenerelli, Christopher (Zoe) Mocherek, and great grandson Nolan.  She enjoyed time with her sister Helen (the late Frank) Galiniak and sister-in-law Margie Zygmunt.  Sophie was preceded in death by her parents, William and Agnes, and brothers Frank Zygmunt and Joe Bigos.

Family and friends will gather for Visitation on Thursday, 3:00 -8:00 p.m. Funeral Friday, 8:45 a.m. from Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home 5570 W. 95th St, Oak Lawn to St. Albert the Great Church, Mass 9:30 a.m. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
