Patricia A. Karel nee Maurisak.
Beloved wife of the late Frank Karel.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved
mother Patricia Karel who passed away peacefully on May 12, 2026,
at the age of 85.
Born February 28, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois. Pat lived a life defined
by love, strength, kindness and devotion to her family and friends.
She was the heart of our family. A source of comfort, laughter and
unconditional support.
Pat was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother,
sister and friend. She enjoyed bowling, crafts, greatly fond of
traveling, family gatherings, gardening, music and visiting Disney 3-
4 times a year. Pat was an active member in St Gerald’s shows.
Loving mother of Annette Jean, Pamela (David) Colantone, &
Jennifer (Thomas) Donnell.
Cherished grandmother of Kyle (Kelly), Meghan, Paul, Amanda
(Nick), Kayla (Dan), Ryan, Ashley (fiancé Adam).
Proud great grandmother of Lincoln, Dakota, Emersyn, and Angel
babies she will meet in Heaven.
Dear sister of Harriet (Bob) Doody.
Fond aunt of John (Lisa), Billy (Jen), & Bobby (Kristy).
Her love and guidance will remain with us always, and her memory
will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone she touched.
Funeral Tuesday, May 19th, 9:15 am from Thompson & Kuenster
Funeral Home, 5570 W. 95th St. in Oak Lawn to St. Gerald Church for
Mass at 10:00 am.
Interment St. Mary Cemetery.
Visitation Monday, May 18th from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association or
Lightways Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
