Kathleen Kulig

Kathleen Kulig (September 21st, 1947-December 16, 2023) of Orland Park, Illinois.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Kathleen Kulig who left us on December 16th, 2023 at the age of 76. She was born on September 21st to John and Dorothy Holoubek (Everson) in Chicago, Illinois.

Kathleen Kulig lived a full and meaningful life and will be deeply missed by family, friends, and all who knew her. In her early adult years, she worked as a homemaker, housecleaner, and receptionist for the Oak Lawn Park District Racquet Club. She enjoyed visiting with members each and every day and always brought a smile to work with her.

Kathy was known for her generosity and adventurous spirit. She lived her life with the childlike spirit of Peter Pan, never wanting to grow up. She loved roller coasters and especially enjoyed Disney World. Hobbies preceding physical limitations included fishing, crafting, swimming, and travel. What she enjoyed most was spoiling her grandkids. She loved to take them places when they were small to keep them up way past bedtime and eat lots of treats. She was a glitzy grandma, always decked out in sequins or glitter. She could be found at the Cracker Barrel often enjoying the gift shop, just as much as the food.

Her motto was "eat dessert first". Her health had been declining for years, and even while laying in bed could be found with a box of chocolates at her side.   Her devoted husband Tom treated her like a princess, making trips to candy stores before visits with her in the hospital.

Kathy had a passion for animals. She loved all her dogs throughout her life and made a nature spot for all raccoons, ducks, and birds in her backyard which were fed daily to keep them coming.

Kathleen Kulig is survived in death by her husband, Thomas Kulig, son John (Rhonda) Kulig and her three grandchildren Brandon, Austin, and Lauren Kulig.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 21st from 3:00-8:00 pm at Thompson Kuenster Funeral Home. Funeral will be held on Friday, December 22nd, 9:15 am from Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home to St. Gerald's Parish in Oak Lawn for Mass at 10:00 am. Family and friends are invited to join us in remembering and celebrating her life.

The family would like to express gratitude for the support and care provided by Northwestern Palos Community Hospital for the care provided to Kathleen Kulig. May cherished memories of Kathleen live on in our hearts forever.
