Dennis J. Royer

In remembrance of Dennis Royer of Oak Lawn, IL. Dennis will be remembered by a large family and group of friends as he passed peacefully on December 22nd, 2022. Dennis was diagnosed in his early 30s with a brain tumor, and at the hands of some incredible surgeons, doctors, and healthcare providers, he was able to live a longer and happy life. He was able to see his children become amazing adults, see his grandchildren (Steven, Lauren, Jack, Eli, Logan, and Emma) grow up and see them flourish out of childhood.

His kids, now adults, Samantha (and husband Myles), Keith (and wife Dawn), and Casey (and wife Christina) remember him as funny, hard working, and inventive. He loved animals, playing cards like spades, pinochle, and all kinds of poker. He was an expert bowler, and all of us remember fun times bowling together. He was tech savvy before it was cool, and dabbled in amateur photography. He was a tinkerer by profession, but also a tinkerer by desire. We all remember his inventive ways of fixing anything, from cars to houses.

Dennis spent his life as a heavy equipment mechanic, until he retired early to care for his health. He continued various invasive treatments for over a decade to remediate any resurgences, and he managed all of them with dignity and humor.

In remembrance of a wonderful husband, a great friend, an amazing father, and a forever loving grandfather. We love you, will miss you, and will keep our greatest memories of us together in our hearts. Rest in Peace.

Memorial Visitation will be at Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home, 5570 W. 95th St. in Oak Lawn, Friday January 20th from 9:00 am until the time of Service at 11:00 am.
