Sister Marie Fox R.S.M.

 
 

Sister Marie Fox, R.S.M., a Sister of Mercy for sixty-seven years, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel James and Margaret (Murray) Fox and her older sister, Barbara Fox. She is survived by her many cousins, especially her godchild, Geri Biegel Havala.

A graduate of Saint Xavier University, she earned her masters degree in Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin and her doctorate from Florida State University. Her teaching career began in Queen of Martyrs elementary school, and the following years found her in a variety of positions at St. Xavier University where she served as a Chemistry Professor, Dean of Students, Director of Development and Trustee. She developed and administrated the External Degree Program at St. Mary of the Woods College in Indiana and served as the Director of Graduate programs and Pastoral Ministry. She served the Sister of Mercy Community as a member of the Leadership Team for eight years.

Visitation Wednesday May 11 will begin with a prayer service at 9:30 am and continue until 10:15 am at Mercy Circle, 3659 W. 99th St. in Chicago.

Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday May 11 at 10:30 am at Mercy Chapel, 3659 W. 99th St. in Chicago.

Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Sisters of Mercy, 3659 W. 99th St. Chicago, IL 60655 would be greatly appreciated.

Due to Covid 19 restrictions, proof of vaccination will be required. Screening and temperature checks will be taken. Masks are required and please practice social distancing.
