Dr. Lim-Kuy Dy Kho
Lim-Kuy Dy Kho passed away peacefully on January 14th, 2022 at the age of 86. He graduated medical school at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila, Philippines in 1963. He moved to Chicago later that year to complete general surgery residency at Cook County Hospital and a subsequent fellowship in hand surgery. He practiced Hand Surgery in private practice and was on staff at St Bernard’s, Holy Cross, Little Company of Mary, and Palos Community Hospital. He was a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the Chicago Medical Society.
Beloved husband of Robin nee Ngo. Loving father of Karen Kho (Joe) Stavitzke, Rex (Bianka) Kho, Cedric (Annie) Kho, and Abel (Jenny Stanton) Kho. Cherished grandfather (“Kong-Kong”) of Leinis and Kelvin, Vivian, Winston, Liam, Adele, and Abram. Dear brother of Peng Lam, Kong Leng, and preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.
He first saw Robin as she was stepping off a horse carriage in Manila and showed up for their first date with a Monopoly boardgame in tow. His first patient was a neighbor’s chicken, prompting his move to the U.S. for greater professional opportunity.
While he loved the practice of surgery, he treasured time with family. We all knew him as someone of quiet humility, compassion, and commitment to character and integrity. Ever supportive of your passions, he always made sure your tires were inflated, so you’d be prepared to take on new roads, wherever they might lead.
