Jeannette Mannix
Surrounded by loving family, Jeannette Mannix passed peacefully from this life to heaven on April 29, 2020. She was reunited with her husband of 40 years, Thomas E. Mannix. Jeannette also joined her son John and her youngest daughter Patty, who both preceded her in death. She lived a life dedicated to her family, whom she loved unconditionally.
Jeannette was born in Chicago, Ill. on April 1, 1927. In 1947, she met the love of her life, Tom, and they married in 1948. Work and raising four children kept Tom and Jeannette busy. She relished road trips with Tom and the kids traveling across the country to visit family. They spent free time vacationing in Eagle River and playing in a poker club with their closest friends. In later years, Tom found the most scenic campsite at Lake Carroll for Jeannette. They enjoyed watching their grandkids explore, pick berries, play on the beach, and learn to swim. Drawn by a shared love of water, the couple also relaxed on their pontoon boat with Tom as Captain.
Everything Jeannette did was carried out with care and thoughtfulness. She enjoyed baking delicious cookies and sending them in care packages to her grandchildren and to work with her kids. “Grandmas” cookies were legendary among family and friends. Jeannette took great joy in handcrafting beautiful blankets for her grandchildren, which she also shared with new parents to celebrate their newborns. Her “nylon nets” for washing dishes and household scrubbing were famous. Jeannette’s compassion and humor were ‘sewn’ through the family as gracefully as her kind gifts were.
Jeannette is survived by her daughters Judy (Tom) Pfeiffer and Mary Mannix. She was a devoted grandmother to Jeannie, Katie, Jenn, Thomas, Joanne, Elizabeth, Anne, Dan, Cathy, Scott, and Colleen. Everyone knew she’d been a “great” grandma for decades, but Jeannette was truly a wonderful great-grandmother. Her love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren was limitless. Favorite Aunt to many nieces and nephews. Jeannette was an anchor for her family. She will be greatly missed but her legacy will continue through all the hearts she has touched in her lifetime.
Services and Interment will be private.
