Carl M. Trotto Sr., past owner of Clip Artists Barber Shop in Oak Lawn passes away at 87.

Carl M. Trotto Sr. was a permanent fixture in Oak Lawn for almost 60 years. His business began under the name of Black Oak in 1957 (the original name of Oak Lawn), but shortly after was changed to Clip Artists Barber Shop at 9706 Cicero. His business resided there for over 25 years until he decided to move to 102nd & Cicero. If you lived in Oak Lawn, you would have at some time gotten your hair cut by Carl or one of his many barbers or beauticians. Some of you old timers will remember waiting for your pretzel rod after your haircut!

One of Carl’s proudest accomplishments in life was being an Oak Lawn business owner. Carl loved taking care of everyone in his shop, from parents and their kids, to parish priests and nuns, and some of the other prominent Oak Lawn Business Owners. When he wasn’t cutting hair, there was nothing he enjoyed more than sharing conversation and swapping stories.
