Richard A. Heffernan , WWII Army Veteran. Cherished husband of Connie nee Brannigan. Beloved father of Maureen, Nancy, Richard, Kathleen, Daniel, and the late Peggy. Father in law of Elisabeth Stewart Therese Du-Rac, Nancy Edwards , Don Cuba and Aurelio Madera. Dear grandfather of Martin Madera, Eric Madera, Julie Cuba, Nick Cuba, Scott Cuba, Sean Cuba, Conor Heffernan and Audrey Heffernan. Fond brother of Loretto (the late Joseph) Fister, Jack ( Sandy) Heffernan, Thomas (Gladys) Heffernan, and the late Rosemary & Bob Kellam,William and Joan Heffernan and James and Mary Ann Heffernan. Uncle and great uncle of many nieces and nephews. Funeral Saturday 10:15am from Thompson & Kuenster Funeral Home, 5570 W. 95th St., Oak Lawn to St. Gerald Church for Mass at 11:00 am. Interment Holy Sepuchre Cemetery. Visitation Friday from 3 pm until 9 pm. Rich was a proud member of the CBI Veterans and the American Legion Marrs Meyer Post. Taught at the Police Academy and taught clown magic at Moraine Valley. As “Left out the Clown”, Rich was a member of NIAROME Clown Troupe. As an usher at St. Gerald Church and a regular member of the Willowbrook Ballroom dance community, Rich had a wide circle of friends. Rich was very proud of his longest gig as Santa Claus that he did until the age of 92. In lieu of flowers memorials to St. Vincent De Paul society at St. Linus Church.
