Sr. Lupe Stump R.S.M.

Sister Lupe died peacefully in her home on April 20, 2013 in Bluffton, South Carolina. She was one of 13 children born to the late Leandra & Modesta Domingez. She was raised in Kewanee, Illinois.

Before joining the Sisters of Mercy in 1984, Lupe was married to the late Robert Stump.

Cherished mother of Cindy (Ken) Meyer, Susan (Doug Foster) Stump & John Stump.

Treasured grandmother of Courtney Meyer.

Sister Lupe had many positions, in health, guidance and education prior to entering the R.S.M.’s. After joining, she worked for Catholic Charities in the Legalization Program and later as a staff member of the 8th Day Center for Justice and was the Director of Programs of the Pilsen Resurrection Development Corporation. She was elected to the Chicago Regional Leadership Team in 1994. In 1997, Sr. Lupe was invited to go to Hardeeville, SC to work with the booming Hispanic population, teaching English as a second language and working on many community projects that helped the needy residents.

Mass of Christian Burial Monday 10 am at Mercy Chapel, 10044 S. Central Park in Chicago.

Inurnment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
